From 26th-27th September 2024, the Palliative Medicine and Supportive Services Department, Institut Kanser Negara, Putrajaya organized the Psycho-Spiritual Care Workshop at the institute's auditorium.
The workshop featured a number of local speakers who have completed the Interprofessional Spiritual Care Education Curriculum (ISPEC) modules and also specialists within the bioethics, palliative care and also a clinical psychologist to teach all of the participants.
Thanks to Dr. Fahmi Sarhay, Dr. Hamdi Razali, Miyen Low and Dr. Tan Hui Siu for being part of the teaching faculty. Dr. Saiful Adni and Dr. Diana Katiman who are both board members of MHPCC also gave talks for the workshop. Our organizational members, namely Kasih Hospice Foundation and Manjung Palliative Care Society also sent representative for the course whilst others joined virtually on the second day.
The workshop was attended by 36 participants from all around the country. They even attracted 2 participants all the way from Brunei! On the second day, they were joined by 20+ others virtually with some of them joining from abroad too. The participants came from various backgrounds and included doctors, nurses and even counsellors.
We hope all of the participants have learned important skills about psycho-spiritual support. We also hope that they get to practice these skills wherever they are.
